Duff Gibson lives with his wife and two boys in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has a bachelor’s degree in phys ed from the University of Western Ontario and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. As an athlete, Duff competed in many sports including wrestling, rowing, speed skating and bobsleigh before finding skeleton. Career highlights include a World Championship gold medal in 2004, a World Championship bronze medal in 2005 and an Olympic gold medal in 2006 in Torino, Italy. In 2006, Duff was also named Canadian male athlete of the year. In Whistler Duff helped provide analysis for the skeleton event as part of CTV’s 2010 Olympic coverage and as of spring 2010, was been named head coach of the Canadian national skeleton team. Duff is also a proud member of the Calgary Fire Department at the rank of Senior Firefighter.
